So, how many of you have 'Feel The Steel' by Steel Panther and think it's the greatest CD called 'Feel The Steel' by Steel Panther? I love it! I think a 2nd CD would be pushing it (not counting 'Hole Patrol') To hear them live from the 229 Club in London go to:- www.theparanoidsquirrel.com

The problem with jokes is that they are just funny once. So I doubt I'll buy this one.

I'm with Carl on this one, I don't find this band remotely interesting. Ok it might be good to laugh at yourselves once in a while but this joke is old and way too thin. Far more decent bands championing the cause out there for real who deserve our support.
Ho Hum. Johhny Scrooge...LOL

Whoa...guess I am resident sourpuss! Chris said that about the band only being funny once. BUT, I do have to say that the reason I didn't respond the other day was I saw Chris had written what I was thinking! LOL! Soooo, yeah, Johnny is with me on this one, and I am with Johnny!

Joke or not the music just rules! In the heatwave we've been having here this summer it's hard not to be a wet blanket I saw them live at the Key Club last October and laughed my ass off. It was a very good cabaret show. Funny jokes and good covertunes. They even did one of their own called Asian Hooker (Smell Like Sushi) with the lyrics on the screen above the stage. They have defined characters as well. The singer is playing the oversex crazed David Lee Roth frontman type. The guitarist is the stupid surferdude. The bassplayer is a closet gay and the drummer I can't remember, but he also had his role to play. They are an ironyband that work very well as that kinda cabaret show. Good for a laugh. Apperantly the musical quality of their CD is also a lot better than Asian Hooker, but still......... It's a joke. I don't mind good jokes, but I'm not gonna listen to them on CD over and over again. Knock Knock.... who's there..... Steel Panther...... I'm sure the CD will sell, I'm sure they will have their 15 minutes of fame. Making a laugh out of this kinda music and image is quite simple after all and they will probably get a big audience from it. Because it's safe. It's safe to admit liking a band who are keeping their ironic distance to what they are doing. But much like other irony bands they will fade into obscurity once the pop fans move onto something else. For me that's not really what it's about though. I just prefer bands who are themselves and somewhat real. Most bands go far to make themselves look cool and sometimes fail, but at least it's from the heart. These guys are going the distance to make themselves look as silly as possible and their lyrics aren't really clever enough for more than 1 good laugh..... after that it just gets kinda boring. I'd much rather stick with good underground bands who are doing this thing for real. When it comes from the heart and means something to them. That's the kinda music I wanna listen to over and over again. I would go see SP live again. Always good for a laugh, but there's no way I'm gonna buy a CD full of "Knock Cock.... PUSSY's here!" jokes........ Damn, I was actually more clever than SP just there

I have thought quite a lot about what I like and don't like with bands like this since they started popping up in the 90's. Comedy can be fun, but it can never beat the real thing. BTW. Do you have my paypal account? HAHAHAHAHA

Had a listen to the 'Feel The Steel' (and Steel Panther) for the first time last night. Musically, the production's great. Humour wise, it's as dead as a dodo. I think it's aiming somewhere inbetween Tap and Tenacious D but fails to even board the train never mind make the journey.

Chuckled for the first 30 seconds but switched it off before the end. Might be persuaded to go see them live tho. Pyros are always good. H
