So only Roth-era songs then? That's a shame as Hagar's vocals were pretty darn awesome. He took them to places Diamond Dave could only dream of.

Stace - I'm with you on this... Hagar's era was great and so was Cherone's!

Nothing against Dave, because I love the early Van Halen...but my favorite albums have always been the Sammy years. He's a much better singer and just as capable of putting on a great stage show.
I hated the Cherone stuff, though...

I guess they had to pick one era over the other, and Dave's pretty much untouchable in the US and that's got to be one of the biggest markets for the game. Always good to see a petty row though.

Sammy Hagar can rot in the bottom of a bottle of tequila like the suckass worm he is. Last decent thing he did was 3 Lock Box.

Last decent thing Dave did was become a paramedic.

Ya know what though...I really don't give a rats ass about any part of this. I listen to Van Halen maybe, MAYBE once every couple of years, and I never play Guitar Hero. So I obviously only stepped into this thread to be a mouthy prick again. I apologize.

I couldnt even listen to V H after he joined. There is only Dave as far as i'm concerned. Conceited, opinionated narrow minded. Yes i am. I'm also right. H

I know - bloody rich, innit? I've spent (what seems like a lifetime) having my dimensionally-challenged gob shrunk down to size by Mr Lets-Calm-It-Down up there, and here he is - finally, belatedly - a born-again opinionated tosspot. Took your time, old bean. I thought Hagar-era Halen was as musically awful as Hagar's dodgy perm-blond-bob contraption was. Poundcake was OK, but for the same reason KISS's Revenge was: i.e. something I wouldn't normally listen to but the production was so spot on, crispy and crunchy it was impossible not to hold one's hands up and concede: OK. That's sounds fucking great, actually. Then again, look at the Roth... There was the 'gay' phase (is he still gay? I can't remember), and now he sprays his hair on every night from the silver spray can last used by the scientist from Back to the Future. I think I'd rather say bollox to it all and listen to The Bulletboys - but! There's now 2 Bulletboys and one of them is sans Marc. Fuck 'em all. D.

H I'm with you Hud, Van Halen ceased to exist after Roth for me. 5150 was descent, but it wasn't Van Halen. Roth is the voice of Van Halen, case closed. I saw VH on the 5150 tour and it was a yawnfest. I saw Roth the same year on the Eat em' And Smile tour and it was awesome. Massive energy and an insanely talented line-up. He lost his way after Skyscraper, but Roth assembled an amazing band for those first two solo albums. Anyone who disagrees needs to give their head a shake This should be proof enough

Oh yeah, I'm fine.
Do you think we will ever see the days again where the band standing on the stage realizes that those 10's of thousands of people in the audience are there to see THEM and they are going to revel in that fact? The last person I saw walk on a stage and take complete control and eat it up that the people were there to see him, even if they weren't, was Andrew Wood. That guy was the last 100% pure Rockstar I have seen. Not saying there haven't been others, but he was the last that actually took my breath away.

Wood is the Mother Lovebone guy? That must have been a while ago - surely there's been others since. Steve Summers, maybe? D.
