I am starting a thread to see if anyone has had this experience. There are cds that I hated when first released and genres that I hated but then years later, I revisited them and now I love them. My examples:
I bought Tigertailz - Young and Crazy back when it first came out just because of the image. I hated it. I thought that the singer SUCKED! Now years later I love it.
Genre - I never liked Industrial and now it is one of my favorites.
What about you? I am interested.

never liked, and still don't, all those 'melodic glam/punk' bands whose lead singer's voice is so weak everything -- all the intros, all the verses, all the choruses, all the breaks, all the mid 8s, all the screams, all the outros, all the everything -- has to be multi-multi-harmonied to make up their inadequices. and then, they have the audacity to spin it -- 'marvel at their superb layered vocals' blala -- as some sort of unique selling point. bollox. give me a decent singer. i'll even take an average pub rock band singer instead.

As long as it isn't emo and that Nu metal shit, I listen to most anything these days.

I honestly can't think of a CD I bought once before that I hated, and now like.

I don't think there is anything I bought and hated and then started liking, but there is a lot of stuff I hated and didn't buy which I have bought later.
I never cared much for extreme metal when it first came out, but now I own the Metallica albums up til the Black Album. I hated Black Metal when it came out, but have a few Burzum, Mayhem, Satyricon and Urgehal CDs + all of Darkthrone's output.
In the 80's I didn't care much for the "softer" bands. I liked WASP, Motley Crue etc, but a few years ago I started getting into stuff like Def Leppard as well.
There's lots more of course, then there are the bands that I liked as a kid as well, but couldn't afford buying, cause there were other bands I like more. Judas Priest is one such band.

Got several. Joey C. Jones and the Gloryhounds-hated it when I first got it and sold it. Re-visited at a later time and now have again and love it. Hanoi Rocks-hated them when I first 'discovered' them (two steps). Then ended up enjoying them. Trash Brats-same as Hanoi I really hated glam/punk when I first heard it. Then, I tossed some cds I had (Heart Throb Mob, Hollywood Teasze, Trash Brats) into a six cd cart with some glam metal cds that I loved (probably Poison, Motley, and somebody else) and tossed it on 'random'. The similarities came out when the songs were juxtaposed. The result was that I ended up loving glam/punk music. The rest took care of itself.
