Hi Darren! Is it still you doing the VAiN DVD? Talked to Davy on Facebook and he mentioned that there would be a DVD made. How far is it in the progress, what will it include and do you know when it will be released?
There is a new VAiN album coming out next year.
I'm excited!:-)

Davy wanted to talk via Skype so I went out and bought a webcam for it. Vain have been busy gigging so we haven't chatted about it yet. I would love to produce it.

Yeah. I saw that one. Great teaser. Is there any more news about the DVD now or are you still having trouble getting a hold of Davy?

we're currently trying to package/pitch the vain doc as part of 6 (or 10) x 60 minute eps. am also speaking to other members of vain now. ashley's version of the early days is an interesting read.

Cool! I'm more than up for a boxset! Any timeframe on when this might see the light of day?

not a clue, chief. part of the project now is a 2 day live event once all the docs have tx'd (transmitted), featuring all the bands and more -- probably in london or birmingham somewhere; hence, the docs will also feature reality footage of gav (co-boss, round records) organising the gig. this was gav's idea and i like it, it gives all the films a quiet sub-narrative and a goal (he says with his poncey director's cap on). gav/round currently look after the wildhearts, wolfsbane and terrorvision -- 3 of the possible bands to be documented. other possibles include tigertailz. wolfsbane have just released a doc/DVD so i don't think we'll be using them now.
our eager presenter/voiceover already signed-up is krusher joule.
we should have been busy lizzies at this point filming bits and pieces for a teaser but the fucking bastard snow has ballsed things up. and there's another 3 weeks' worth heading our way in a few days, apparently.
my vote for this xmas no.1 is london's 'russian winter'. ho ho ho

It's a mystery to me how you guys can get so totally surprised by snow every year:-) We have snow every year in Norway too, but nowhere near the problems you guys seem to get from it. Infact it's usually on the news here every year how you guys don't deal with snow.
On topic: So what you are saying is that there will be several bands in the documentary series and each band will be given 60 minutes? Don't know where I got the idea from, but I figured all the episodes would be about VAiN hahaha. Not so keen on the other bands you mentioned, but if you sell the shows as single DVDs as well after the broadcast, I'd be more than up for the VAiN one.

Infact it's usually on the news here every year how you guys don't deal with snow. Because our country is a bunch of fucking pussies lol. Seriously, our (Pathetic, may I add) government doesn't spend enough and prepare enough for snow. I mean... the first sign of a couple of flakes down, and they close schools here. My daughters have had a load of time off already, even though they could quite easily get to school, the school decides to close down. It's stupid. "Two snowflakes coming down! Close the schools!". It was the same under labour also. We probably have the worst broadband out of all other countries with broadband also. I spent years on 2 meg, and recently we moved and are now on 6 and a half meg. Still no fibre in our area, just shitty ADSL 2+ (21CN). Infinity Broadband is being rolled out, but not quick enough if you ask me. ANYWAY... back on topic... Great stuff Darren! Look forward to seeing this when done.

@chris -- I'm sorry if I misled you regarding Vain. There's no commissioner in the world gonna commission 10 hours' worth of Vain documentary. We'll be lucky to get 30 minutes. However, there's always hope. Linda Perry still (I think -- haven't spoke about it) frequently uses Davy's San Fran studio to record artists she writes for; she wrote Aquilera's 'Beautiful', Christina recorded the vocals there, Davy produced some of it, and the song went on to win a Grammy, blabla, so maybe there's a reality show surrounding the daily life of his studio possible. Who knows? Like I said, haven't spoken to Davy about specifics yet -- he's been busy playing Vain gigs. andii -- you, mister, should be grateful for 2megs. My 3G dongle can barely get above 1meg on a good day, even with a favourable breeze. Hope you're well, mate. Have a good Crimbo. Still think about our bonkers Xmas's together, playing Monkey Balls pissed, fondly. Where have you relocated to? D.

That is what I am saying. Broadband in this country is shit mostly, compared to other parts of the world. Living in Dowlais now. Remember Titch? Over his way. Much better area than the dump we were living in. Have a good Christmas yourself too
